Job Description

Our client, established in 1992 and recently acquired by a Global leader in Digital Media & Audiovisual Equipment and Entertainment Show domain, with offices in Europe and North America, has its software development team located in here in Montreal for two different divisions.

Due to growth, they are currently seeking a project manager who will be responsible for the successful delivery of Proof of Concepts, Software from the R & D team in Montreal, as well as a number of small projects lead by 3 or 4 different groups in different geographical locations as well.

As such, the perfect candidate will overseeing numerous small projects (both in terms of coordination, timeline and budget ) and ensure that all of the specs, equipment, schedules, meetings, resources, budgets are happening in a timely on budget fashion and to the end users satisfaction.

Due to the leading edge technology being developed by our client in this tech heavy domain, our client is seeking someone who has worked in a software environment, most probably in the Audio Visual, Digital Media, Entertainment domain there they garnered knowledge and familiarity with managing the development of drivers (plugins), logic modules, and GUI templates, web-based applications, and the common terminology and equipment protocols etc.

The job includes:

• Managing project and proof of concept scope, budget, and timeline and achieving all milestones effectively

• Gathering of materials such as protocols info, documentation and requirements, in order for developers to write drivers

• Organizing proof of concept events with external clients either on site ( the US and or the EU ) or here in Montreal

• Communicating with customers, peers, teams, and supervising in an indirect fashion the same type of work being managed by 3 to 5 PMs remotely ( this is in large coordination effort in order to identify and mitigate risk is need be

• Reporting and understanding KPIs that allow one to quickly ensure all is well or areas requiring attention

• Coordinating activities with clients, partners and multiple vendors

• Traveling to customer facilities within Canada and internationally, as needed (this may happen from time to time…it will not be frequent )

Must Have Skills:

Required Skills and Knowledge:

The ideal candidate will have a technical background in audiovisual, as well as a minimum 5 years’ project management experience and excellent communication skills.

• Audiovisual equipment knowledge (Experience in AV industry)

• PMP certification or in-depth knowledge of PMI methodologies

• An understanding of Agile Methods and tools, including JIRA

• University degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline / work experience

• Understanding of protocols such as TCP/IP, Serial RS232, REST, JSON-RPC

• Understanding of Web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, PHP)

• Experience in working under pressure in a fast-paced environment, adapting to
changing priorities, understanding business objectives, and multi-tasking

• Ability to find solutions to project roadblocks with minimal supervision

• Good negotiation skills and substantial experience working with multiple project
